ABOUT THE PROJECT

The community of Assis Brasil, located within the protected Extractivist Reserve Chico Mendes in the Amazon Rain Forest, is composed of 280 families of rubber tappers. These families live sustainably in the forest, but are plagued by disease and infection. The objective of this project is to work with community members to design drinking water and sanitation systems that will alleviate some of the health problems associated with their water supplies and waste disposal methods.
